SingPost CSR Event – Page 2 – Epic Dialogue

SingPost 160th Anniversary CSR Community Party

Our Approach

Creating a Record-breaking Charity Event to Engage and Give Back to the Community

Story

In celebration of 160 years of Singapore’s Postal Service, SingPost organised a slew of activities to engage the community.

In celebration of 160 years of Singapore’s Postal Service, SingPost organised a slew of activities to engage the community. The calendar of activities culminated in a Community Popiah Party, graced by President Halimah Yacob, where SingPost aimed to break the Singapore Record for the most number of people making Popiah  together.

It was a significant time for SingPost staff members to reflect on how far the company has come in its role of connecting lives and building communities over the generations. It was also an event to give their gift of time and joy to the seniors through the simple activity of making a signature Singaporean dish.

Challenge

The agency was tasked to conceptualise, plan, and execute the event which saw 252 Seniors from 5 agencies under Community Chest and 120 staff volunteers coming together to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and meaningful interactions.

Approach

To pull off such a coordinated event, there were many considerations that required immaculate planning on both the client and agency side.

A set of eye-catching key visuals assets were created to reflect the jubilant occasion in celebration of the company’s major milestone. These assets were used on various touch-points, such as wall decal, postal kiosk screen savers, event backdrop, and media kit, through the month-long celebration.

For the event, one of the main challenges would be space planning to accomodate a big crowd in the limited space at SingPost Centre’s Atrium. Seating arrangement, human traffic flow, and programming were main considerations for the planning of the space. On top of that, our participants were mostly senior folks who required more meticulous considerations such as wheelchair accessibility, close proximity to washrooms, and general safety.

After a few iterations of the layout plan, we came up with a seating plan that could accomodate 350 people and formed the word “160” for visual impact. The “160” seating arrangement was a lead-up to the final human formation of “160 using coloured placards, which became the final photo opportunity moment for the media.

Another challenge would be the consideration of manpower and seats allocation for 250 seniors and 120 staff members. As the seniors belonged to 5 different agencies, timing of arrival and seats had to be allocated perfectly to avoid jams. Another consideration would be adopting extra public security measures for our guest-of-honour, President Halimah Yacob.

120 staff volunteers were assigned roles such as runners and table hosts. Runners would be roaming around providing support for food and placard distribution, while table hosts were stationed at their seats to entertain the seniors and lead them in executing the final formation photo opportunity. Zone leaders were also appointed to instruct all volunteers to execute each activity in a timely manner.
